Customized Phone Case with Nail Polish and a Gold Sharpie

If you knew me personally, you would know how obsessed I am with labeling. Back in grade school and high school, I would actually dedicate extra time into editing creative name tags for my siblings and I’s books and notebooks (Hello hello to people who still remember using PrintArtist!) Now that I’m older, that itch to personalize every single thing I own never went away, albeit it evolved into a classier and cleaner aesthetic.

Sharpie pens, although not the best labeling tool out there, is a fun way to inject some customization into your personal items. Below is a simple tutorial on how to make a personalized cellphone case with a gold sharpie, clear nail polish plus some creativity.

Things you would be needing:

  1. A clear case (jelly cases work better than plastic ones!)
  2. A permanent pen (I got the metallic sharpie from National Bookstore. It came in three colors – gold, silver, and copper)
  3. Clear Nail Polish

Steps:

  1. Think of a design. This can be anything from your name, to a doodle you hold dear, or even you favorite quote!
  2. Make sure to clean the surface of the phone case you would be working on. I cleaned the back of my jelly case with alcohol wipes. Alternatively, you could use sandpaper on the parts you would be writing on so the pen ink would adhere more, but this step isn’t really necessary.
  3. Get your permanent marker and start drawing/writing on your design. You could use a pencil first if you’re not comfortable, but for this one I went freehand.
  4. Let it dry for a few minutes then place a coat or two of the clear nail polish. Let it dry throughly.
  5. Place it on your phone, and voila! Your very own customized case!
