Postcards from Bolinao: The Cape Bolinao Light House
I am a huge fan of novels, and whenever I encounter books that mentions lighthouses, I always feel this little flurry in my chest. Believe it or not, I always found lighthouses romantic! I’ve visited countless lighthouses in the past (the Philippines being home to so many!) and I added another one to my list when we dropped by the Cape Bolinao Lighthouse when my girlfriends and I went on a weekend visit to Pangasinan!
It was at least an additional 1 and 1/2 to 2 hour drive from Alaminos, but the view (if you take out the extreme heat!) was so worth it! Unlike the other abandoned lighthouses in the country, you cannot climb to the top of Cape Bolinao Lighthouse, but that fact doesn’t take away it’s majestic beauty – a tall white structure amidst a field of blossoms! No wonder so many couples take their pre-nuptials here! There is really nothing else to do but take pictures, but then again, for a view like this, wouldn’t you go all the way to visit it too?
After basking in the beauty (and under the sun! LOL!) we bought some ice cream to help us cool off. Here I asked Kuya if he was the resident ice cream vendor in the area. After he said yes, I asked if I could take his photo with my cones! Haha! That day he was selling coconut and cheese flavored ice cream cones for P10 each. If ever you get the chance to visit, please do buy from him!
Souvenir shops line the free parking area of the Cape Bolinao Lighthouse site. There is also another paid parking area, (you cannot park/hazard on the side streets) probably set up for during the peak tourist seasons.
Another post card worthy shot of the Cape Bolinao Lighthouse and I! Thanks for dropping by! See you on my next blog!
The Cape Bolinao Lighthouse is located at Cape Beach Road, Bolinao, Pangasinan.
