New Year, New Lashes! Five Reasons To Get Lash Extensions: Lash In Bloom by Browhaus
It’s the start of the New Year, and after all that’s happened in 2018, I decided to open the year with fresh new eyes – literally! A few weeks ago, I undergone Browhaus’ latest Lash Extension service, the Lash In Bloom, more specifically, the Multilash.
What is Lash in Bloom?
Lash In Bloom is a lash extension service by BROWHAUS that gives you beautiful lashes that frame your eyes to make them appear larger and darker. It is a quick and effective way to emphasise your eyes, giving you a groomed and polished appearance.
A quick background: I have always been frustrated with my short and straight eyelashes. I tried many many treatments over the years – buying expensive eyelash curlers, eyelash perming, eyelash serums to help them grow thicker/longer – alas, none of them worked! This is the reason why I got so good at applying false eyelashes! So good that all of my friends go to me for help in application (Some examples: During Christmas Parties, it’s normal for me to be surrounded by a flock of workmates each carrying their own bottles of eyelash glue and falsies! Another one is when one of my close friends, Phylicia, took a special trip to my condo just so I could place falsies on her!) I believe having false eyelashes on opens up the eyes so much and makes it all the more pretty! Whatever makes you more confident, I guess?
What are the different kinds of Lash In Bloom?
CLUSTER LASH – Lush clusters are applied to eyelids, creating an eyeliner effect for that bold and dramatic look
SINGLE LASH – for a defined and natural look, each synthetic strand is applied onto lashes individually. Best for everyday look.
MULTI LASH – Bouquets of lashes are placed on individual lashes to create a fuller effect. Multi lash uses varied lengths of lashes, giving you a ‘lush’ look.
So anyway, when Browhaus first approached me to get lash extensions, I was very hesitant at first. I know I did almost everything with my lashes, but I was apprehensive with getting extensions initially because of all the horror stories I’ve heard and read from my extensive research on lashes (haha!) However, since I am a person who is always willing to try anything once, I decided to go for it. Let me take you thru what happened in photos and captions!
Step 1: Come Prepared
I knew I would not be able to wash my face after the procedure, so I went without any make-up on. It is advised to come with clean, bare eyelashes, including mascara! Also, eyelashes should not be permed or curled. If you have an eye infection or have recently undergone eye surgery or lasik, they recommend a minimum rest period of 2 months after your procedure before proceeding with Lash In Bloom. Preparation also includes going to the restroom or having food before the procedure because it will take at least two hours in total, only because you will not be able to stand up in between applications because your eyes would be shut the whole time.
This is also the part where you decide what the Style and Look of your final lashes would be. Depending on your needs and eye shape, Browhaus’ therapists will advise on the most suitable lash type for you. But of course, the choice still depends on you. You can choose from having a Bold & Dramatic look, Defined look or Lush look with either Natural, Cat Eyes or Doll style. The lash extensions come in a variety of thickness, length and curl (not applicable to Cluster Lash In Bloom)
Styles:
- Cluster Lash
- Single Lash
- Multi Lash
Looks:
- Natural
- Cat Eyes
- Doll style
Step 2: Take Pictures
You know, for the gram! But kidding aside, you should take at least one “before” photo so you could fully appreciate the results “after” Browhaus has very friendly and supportive staff, so asking for help taking photos shouldn’t be a problem at all. Also aside from being highly skilled lash therapists (they undergo intensive training for 4 to 8 weeks at the highly reputable BROWHAUS Training School in Singapore) they are obviously well trained working behind the camera as well (as you can see in my photos below!)
Step 3: Relax
Only a few things come to mind when I think of things I could do lying down on a salon chair with my eyes closed, so I just chose to relax! You can also opt to sleep (I fell asleep midway!) but if you’re feeling chatty you can always ask questions. Thru this mini chikka session I learned how Browhaus has specially formulated adhesive that does not cause stinging to the eyes and nose. I also asked the million dollar question – will my natural lashes fall off? The answer – with proper care, they won’t. Lashes do fall out as part of its natural growth cycle, however, if you tug, rub or attempt to remove your lash extensions yourself, you can run the risk of breaking the ends of your natural lashes. That said, it is advised to always have your lash extensions removed by BROWHAUS therapists, when the time comes! I’ve had my lashes for more than a month now, and to be perfectly honest, every time a lash extension falls off, I go check if any of my natural lashes came with it. The count as of now is still at zero!
Step 4: Open your eyes for a surprise!
Like I said earlier, I fell asleep halfway thru the procedure, and when it was time to wake up, I admittedly had a bit of a hard time, first because even though the lashes weighed next to nothing, the effect of a (well deserved) nap plus a few micrograms added to your eyelids made waking up a tad bit harder. BUT, a few minutes in, and after being showed my reflection in the mirror, I was all shiny eyes! They. Looked. Perfect. I had no other way to describe it. And I am so very glad I took before and after photos because now I could go back to that moment anytime I wanted to! Because you know, people change but photos and memories don’t – but I digress! Haha!
Quick FAQs
How long is the procedure in total?
CLUSTER LASH (45 mins), SINGLE LASH (75mins), MULTI LASH (120 mins)
How long does Lash in Bloom lash? I mean, last!
On average, Lash In Bloom can last between 3 and 6 weeks depending on the growth rate of your natural eyelashes. The duration differs with every individual. We advise reapplying a new set of eyelash extensions after 4 to 6 weeks. We also advise that you let their lashes rest for a couple of weeks in between the removal and application of a new set of lashes.
Is it painful?
It is generally a painless procedure. For customers who are undergoing eyelash extensions for the first time, you might feel a little discomfort during the first 3 days. This is especially the case for cluster lashes as they are generally harder in texture as compared to single lashes. Personally, I had a really hard time for the first day (only) because my eyes were still getting used to the extra weight. Nothing some eye drops couldn’t fix!
How much is it?
Cluster Lashes start at P3,800, Strand by strand extensions at P5,800, and Multi Lash at P8,550.
Do I need a retouch?
We recommend a touch-up about 2 to 3 weeks after getting your eyelash extensions. Your natural eyelash growth cycle causes your eyelash to fall out every 45 to 60 days, so touch-ups involve filling eyelashes into gaps where your own eyelashes have fallen.
Can I still wear make up?
With lashes like that, do you need to? Kidding aside, you do not have to apply eye make-up but if you wish to, only apply water-based mascara for easy removal. Do avoid using oil-based make-up removers directly on the lashes as oil may dissolve or weaken the adhesive bond. Use lint-free cotton/cotton pads to remove make-up from around your eye area. Do not use cotton balls or swabs directly on your lashes as the fibers may get entangled with your lash extensions
Would I do it again?
In a heartbeat, yes! Here are five reasons why:
- They look great. They open up my eyes so much and people can’t help but be drawn in and notice. Also, it is a given fact that when you look great, you feel great. And I think everyone deserves to feel that way every single day!
- Lash extensions feel lightweight and natural. After the first day, your eyelids will get used to the additional weight, until even you forget you even had extensions in the first place! I am guilty of this, and it takes a lot of control to not forget to not rub my eyes!
- Lash extensions are water resistant! Meaning, you can go in the pool, frolick around the beach, go hiking, climb mountains, ride horses, jump down planes, and do whatever it is your heart desires, and still look like you woke.up.like.this!
- Lash extensions do not damage your natural lashes, contrary to popular belief. This is only possible of course when you get them done by the best trained ones in the industry.
- You get to sleep more! After getting my eyebrows micro bladed, I cut off at least five minutes from my daily make up routine. Now with my lashes done, I no longer use eyeliner, removing a total of ten minutes from my everyday prep time. They say you can’t really buy time, but you can do things to make time for more important things in life – like sleep! Haha!
After everything that’s happened to me the past year, I can truly say getting lash extensions is one of those decisions I am really happy about! If you’re still having doubts or are too scared to do it, or probably had bad experiences from another institution, I suggest you give Browhaus a try. I had (and still am having!) the best experience and I am not planning on getting my extensions taken off soon!
Let me know if you have any questions! I’d be glad to answer them the best as I can!
